Project Title: Physics at Play in the Park
Recipient(s): Sheila Fisher, Les Blatt, Sarah Michaels, Anthony Calcia
Affiliation: Clark University - Worcester, MA
Description:

This is a project involving average high school students in traditional physics courses who will use a local park for applications of physics concepts employing infotech to gather and analyze data. This project would be to develop a series of investigations and explorations that would utilize a town owned recreational area to demonstrate or to apply concepts of physics covered in the classroom. It offers a bridge between the community and the classroom; it allows for student creativity in originating investigations; it provides use of modern technology; it encourages the students to access the information highway. This program would encourage the students to see the physics in the world where we play. It seeks to connect the text with the task. This is Physics at Play in the Park.

The project includes methods for disseminating the project, as well as plans for future expansion into other physics areas, and to lower grade levels.
