| Description: |
This
detector will serve as a focal point for an eduactional
unit on particle and nuclear physics. It would enable
teachers to demonstrate principles used at accelerators
such as Fermilab, SLAC, RHIC, and CEBAF. Students
will be able to relate to these new and exciting
projects.
We
propose the following:
- Build
at least 10 detectors for community use
- Create
an assembly manual so that teachers throughout
the country can duplicate our efforts
- Develop
a document which describes the experiments that
can be done with the apparatus
- Hold
several workshops to train teachers to use the
detectors
- Place
material on the world wide web so it can be readily
accessed
